In the Blueberry Vanilla Milkshake post two weeks ago, I asked you to write milkshake recipes which should be featured in this Milkshake Monday series in the comments. The lovely Kathi from the German Blog Küchensachen asked if I could make a milkshake with orange and buttermilk so I created a recipe with this combination.
Although I already used few ingredients for the other milkshake recipes, this one only requires three ingredients. You could even call it minimalistic. But why should you buy lots of ingredients if the recipe also turns out great with only a few? Usually, I don’t drink buttermilk, but I liked this combo a lot so we will definitely drink buttermilk more often.
Orange Buttermilk Milkshake
100 ml of cold buttermilk
1/3 ripe banana
Sliced oranges, bananas or lemons
- Cut the banana in coins and freeze them in a freezing container or freezer bag for at least 12 hours.
- The next day, peel the orange and blend it with the frozen banana coins and the buttermilk in a blender until the milkshake is smooth and all ingredients are evenly distributed.
- Pour the milkshake into a glass and decorate it at pleasure with fresh fruit.
This recipe was the last one in this Milkshake Monday series. I really loved posting another recipe every week with only one topic and would like to start even more food series. Maybe a Christmas series or a series with lunch box recipes? Well, we’ll see. Do you come up with any great topics?
