Now winter has finally arrived in Germany. When I see the white winter wonderland outside, I long for warm thoughts and a warming drink when I come home from a long winter walk in the cold. For all of you who share these feelings, I created a satisfying winter drink. This Hot Coconut Chocolate tastes the best when you use fresh milk and high quality chocolate.
Hot Coconut Chocolate
Serves: 2 cups à 250 ml
250 ml whole milk
250 ml coconut milk
4 teaspoons raw cacao powder
Some grated coconut
Some dark chocolate (at least 90 % of cacao)
Mix 150 ml of whole milk and the coconut milk and heat it up slowly. Pour the rest of the whole milk in a milk frother or heat it up and froth the milk up by hand. When the milk is warm, add the cacao and stir well. Now pour the hot chocolate into two cups and decorate with the milk froth and grated coconut. Finally grate some chocolate and sprinkle it on the hot drink.
This recipe is great for those who want to eat healthier, especially if you want to reduce your sugar consume. Since you only use very dark high quality chocolate, the recipe is low in sugar and therefore relatively healthy. I use to prepare it with my favourite chocolate with 90 % or even 99 % of cacao.
