What is your favourite must-have for a cozy movienight on the couch? Mine is definitely a great movie, as well as fresh popcorn. I love popcorn. For me it is the perfect movie snack since you can prepare it with so many different flavours. Even if you want a big bowl filled with freshly popped popcorn, you barely need ten minutes to prepare it.
I often eat popcorn just plain without any flavours. But especially in winter and during Christmas time, I love the taste of cinnamon, vanilla or gingerbread. Usually I prefer my popcorn without oil or honey, but you’ll need some coconut oil and a drizzle of honey for this recipe, so that the spices stick on the crunchy popcorn.
Crunchy Winter Popcorn
Ingredients for two portions
2-3 tbsp of grain of maize
1 tbsp of honey
1 tbsp of coconut oil
a pinch of cinnamon
a pinch of vanilla
a pinch of gingerbread spice
Heat up a well-coated pan or a big pot with it’s lid on medium temperature. When the surface is hot, add the coconut oil and two or three grains of maize. Wait until the grains pop, then add the rest of the grains and put the lid on top and turn the temperature down. Shake the pan constantly to make sure it won’t burn. When almost all grains are popped, mix the honey and spices in an extra bowl and add the mixture to the pan. Give it a good stir and add the popcorn to a big bowl. There you go with the perfect winter movie snack!
